Fasoracetam, (also known as NS-105, LAM-105 or (+)-5-Oxo-D-prolinepiperidinamide monohydrate) alongside other racetams has been identified as more potent nootropic agents compared to the original nootropic piracetam. These derivatives are powerful influencing human and animal cognition in different ways [2]

  • Overview

Piracetam – the first ever substance under the nootropic agent category, was discovered decades ago. It has been dubbed as a drug without mechanism however; numerous clinical studies have established that such drugs act as weak AMPA receptor modulator. This mechanism of action allows piracetam to produce an array of benefits such as better memory, attention and learning abilities [1].

With human’s natural inclination to further improvement, other compounds similar to piracetam are developed. One such piracetam-like substance includes fasoracetam. Fasoracetam, (also known as NS-105, LAM-105 or (+)-5-Oxo-D-prolinepiperidinamide monohydrate) alongside other racetams has been identified as more potent nootropic agents compared to the original nootropic. These derivatives are powerful influencing human and animal cognition in different ways [2].

Fasoracetam was originally created and manufactured by a Japanese pharmaceutical company. This was primarily created to treat individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Recently however, it is being investigated for its ability to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Some studies have shown that it has positive effects towards dementia, cognition and learning. Observation studies alongside anecdotal evidence from online reviews have also shown that fasoracetam has anxiolytic properties as well. Other than promoting general intelligence and treating anxiety symptoms, this nootropic agent have shown other cognitive benefits that includes decrease on apathetical tendencies [3].

    Key Findings
Studies have shown that fasoracetam promotes:
    • Improvement in memory and learning [4] [5] [6]
    • Treatment of depression symptoms [7]
    • Anti-amnesic properties [5] [6] [7]

Please note: This article is for informational purposes only. Only buy fasoracetam for research. We do not encourage intake of fasoracetam or any other nootropic substance listed/discussed/sold on this site.

Fasoracetam has been the most studied representative of N side chain, pyrrole substituted derivatives. Studies have shown that it has the ability to activate stimulatory and inhibitory G proteins. It is rapidly absorbed after oral intake reaching its peak effects within 30 minutes in rats. It is being excreted mainly unchanged in the kidneys. Amongst humans, this novel cognitive enhancer clears longer to elderlies as compared to young people restricting its use. Hence, careful observation must be performed when used by elderly people. Today, the efficacy and safety of fasoracetam have not been established yet [4] [5] [8].

Amongst its benefits, fasoracetam’s ability to improve memory and learning is most popular. Slices of evidence revealed that it’s cholinergic and GABAergic mechanisms improve memory, particularly long-term memory retention, potentian and consolidation. It has been revealed that this piracetam-like nootropic agent even reverses memory impairment that is caused by baclofen – a potent GABAB receptor agonist that are reported to interfere with retention of memory in humans and in rodents [2] [7].

The antidepressant properties of fasoracetam have been demonstrated in a study conducted by its creator – Nippon Shinyaku Company. Rats were used as study subjects to which they were administered with specific doses of fasoracetam. Analysis of results revealed that fasoracetam after forced swimming test revealed that there were less behavioral despair amongst the study subjects. Moreover, there was evidence of increased GABAB receptors in the cerebral cortex of the study subjects suggesting anti-depressant properties [7]. Lastly, its anti-amnesic properties have been associated to its ability to rouse central cholinergic functions [9].

How fasoracetam works and why you should buy fasoracetam

Recent evidence revealed that fasoracetam modulates the adenylyl cyclase functions of the brain. It prevents the formation of forskolin-stimulated cAMP through a G protein-dependent manner while enhancing cAMP formation. In addition to these, these actions were inhibited by a non-selective metabotropic glutamate or mGlu indicating the involvement of mGlu receptors on fasoracetams modulatory properties. Other studies further revealed that this ability is being mediated through groups II and III mGlu receptor subclasses while its facilitatory function is enforced by group I mGlu subclass [2] [6].

Another important mechanism of action associated with fasoracetam includes its cholinergic mechanism. Fasoracetam is said to increase central cholinergic activity thereby reversing the decrease in HACU or high affinity choline uptake in the hippocampus and cerebral cortex. People buy fasoracetam because several studies further show that administration of fasoracetam increases GABAB receptors resulting to its anti-amnesic, anti-depressant and increased learning and memory capabilities. Note however that this nootropic agent is unable to exert its GABAergic functions without influencing both 5-hydroxytriptamine 2 receptors and B-adrenergic receptors [9].

Been taking 100mg daily for my studying needs. Keeping awake during those long boring lectures was never a problem for me. The good thing is I can still go on my nightly games while not losing focus the next day cause by my reduced sleeping time. A really nice hack.

I’ve heard a lot of good feedback about fasoracetam and so I decided to try it as well. It’s been going great for me so far. I just have to make sure not to take too much of a high dose. But all in all, it’s great.
